Women are starting businesses at more than twice the rate of their male peers. Yet, women continue to face greater barriers to starting and growing a business. Support from the Coca-Cola Foundation is critical to narrowing that gap, enabling Accion to provide the affordable financing that women need to open and sustain their businesses as well as the personalized coaching and educational resources they need to ensure their continued success and growth.
In 2018, with Coca-Cola’s support, Accion in the U.S. reached:
- More than 1,300 women with $16 million in capital to start or grow their business. These women created or retained an estimated more than 4,000 jobs in communities across the country.
- More than 7,000 women with coaching and business support, both one-on-one and via workshops and seminars, to help them improve their loan readiness and strengthen other aspects of their business
- More than 160,000 women with digital educational resources to help them navigate key questions and challenges in starting or growing a business.
In 2018, Accion was pleased to celebrate Coca-Cola’s commitment to women entrepreneurs by presenting the company with the Award for Inclusion at our annual Access to Opportunity Awards Luncheon in New York City, which recognizes individuals and partners who have played an extraordinary role in creating financial and economic opportunity for small business owners in the United States.
