Accion in Southern California is seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Development & Impact Officer, based in San Diego, CA.

 

Position Summary:

The Development & Impact Officer is a full-time position supporting the organization’s fundraising activities, partnerships, impact analysis, donor communication and engagement efforts. This position reports to the Director of Grants & Impact and works closely with the CEO and marketing departments to support fundraising initiatives, grant reporting and impact evaluation efforts, while also supporting publication of donor facing materials.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Produce compelling client stories and testimonials used within special partnerships, proposals, donor engagements, and other publications
  • Update accurate donor records in fundraising database and contact lists in Constant Contact
  • Process donations using eTapestry and issue timely donor acknowledgements
  • Provide accurate and timely activity and grant pipeline reports to CEO and Director of Grants & Impact
  • Develop small fundraising proposals (writing, assembly)
  • Assist the Director of Grants & Impact to assemble and submit larger grant proposals
  • Engage and cultivate relationships with donors and stakeholders and provide proactive fundraising support to the Director of Grants & Impact and CEO
  • Assist with prospective donor research and statistics for grant proposals
  • Produce material for email communications and social media fundraising efforts. Schedule posts on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram accounts.
  • Run regular programmatic reports in loan database system to demonstrate programmatic impact, outcomes and target client demographic information
  • Assist the Director of Grants & Impact in tracking progress of program outcomes for grants and partnerships, using Excel and other computer software
  • Coordinate with lending staff to meet grant goals and work with them to identify borrowers for particular grant programs
  • Execute fundraising events by aiding in and managing logistical planning, promotional efforts, and day‐of coordination
  • Attend fundraising and other community events/meetings to strengthen and develop relationships with community stakeholders
  • Work with marketing team to ensure donor facing materials are on brand and reflect mission
  • Other duties may be assigned

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-3 years of experience in nonprofit environment or related educational experience
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills and an ability to write compelling client testimonials
  • Outstanding overall accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong planning skills including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities
  • Experience in engaging donors, grant writing, and communications
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and experience using various databases/software
  • Strong data analysis and evaluation skills
  • Outstanding oral communication skills. Dynamic, diplomatic, and respectful communicator.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the impact of Accion’s mission
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and clients in a culturally diverse environment
  • Ability to be a self-starter and take initiative

 

Preferred (but not required)

  • Experience with donor databases such as eTapestry
  • Experience with CRM platforms, including Salesforce and Constant Contact
  • Bilingual language skills
  • Event coordination experience

ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT OFFICER POSTION

Accion is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join its New York-based Development and Communication team and support in the solicitation of $10 million in requests annually, with a specific focus on managing a portfolio of foundation and corporate partners, supporting the Vice President and CEO in their fundraising of major individual donors, and coordinating Accion’s annual spring luncheon – all to support Accion’s lending and financial education programs.  The Development Officer will work with the entire team and report directly to the Director of Development and Communications. In some cases, the Officer will work directly with the Vice President and CEO.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage relationships within a portfolio of institutional funders, drafting proposals, taking meetings, and preparing reports to keep them informed of Accion’s work and the impact of their contributions;
  • Research, identify and cultivate new funding prospects in partnership with Director and Vice President;
  • Support the Vice President and CEO in their outreach and individual fundraising through prospect research, drafting of pitches and proposals, and coordinating cultivation and stewardship strategies;
  • Support coordination of Accion’s annual Access to Opportunity Awards Luncheon in partnership with the Vice President and Development Committee; and
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

 

KEY OUTCOMES

  • Manage a portfolio of 20+ institutional accounts, drafting and submitting an average of 2 grant requests per month and 2 reports per month for a total of $1 million requested annually;
  • Secure at least $650K in renewed support from existing institutional partners per year;
  • Achieve 40 – 50 touchpoints with current and prospective major donors, including a minimum of 24 personal visits a year;
  • Secure at least $325K in support from major donors through asks and fundraising events; and
  • Execute on Accion’s annual Access to Opportunity Awards Luncheon.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in Fundraising;
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communications skills;
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, organizational skills, prospect research skills, and creativity;
  • Ability to manage complex projects involving other staff, set priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet time-sensitive deadlines;
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook);
  • Event planning experience a plus.

As a member of ACCION’s Intake team, you will contribute to our mission by providing support to microloan applicants. The Intake team acts as the face of ACCION; quite often, the first contact the client has is with our team. The Intake team primes all applicants that are received, ensuring that our lending team can dedicate their time to converting applications into loans. The intake team provides customer service to clients, including but not limited to financial education and information about ACCION’s lending criteria.

  • Monitor fax and respond to email inquiries

Job Description:

The Accion Internet Lending student volunteer is an opportunity to learn and apply skills to work in the field of domestic microfinance. Internet Lending volunteers work closely with the Accion loan consultants to analyze the loan applications which are received online. From the beginning of the micro lending process, interns assist in document collection and loan analysis – gaining valuable knowledge about domestic microfinance and are instrumental in furthering the mission of Accion.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Loan Consultants to compile complete business loan packages
  • Alert LC of missing documents, preliminary questions, and distinctive situations
  • Alert LC of new clients and when additional documents have been received

 

Qualifications required:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred Portuguese a plus

SUMMARY

The Intake team acts as the face of Accion, often times serving as the first point of contact.  The functional areas impacted by this position are lending and online channels.  The Intake Specialist will support Accion’s mission by providing excellent customer service and assisting the lending team with application conversion.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Intake Manager, the Intake Specialist will be responsible for providing excellent customer service measured by:

 

Speedy and professional prequalification of applicants:

  • Manage incoming call volume and track leads in Salesforce
  • Prioritize voicemails and e-mail inquiries
  • Pre-qualify client applications for product selection within expected guidelines and upload document collection in SPARK system
  • Process loan applications in Salesforce and provide prequalification results
  • Process daily Small Business Administration SBA LINC email communications using Mail Chimp
  • Monitor fax and assist with outbound communication channels (SMS, E-mail) and systematic, multi-channel lead tracking through digital dashboards

 

Tailored financial education and credit advice:

  • Providing clients with feedback and potential recommendations to improve credit profile.
  • Offer clients educational materials to assist with credit repair as well assist with credit report requests.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on lending guidelines to lead applicants appropriately through the lending process.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on financial education products to educate applicants on additional services.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual – English and Spanish required. Portuguese a plus
