Natasha Wozniak, Artist
I began working as an artist at fifteen. I was particularly drawn to metalworking, which I learned at University of Wisconsin, in field work in Nepal, and alongside Buddhist statuary makers.
I gained industry experience by working at low wages as a bench jeweler in New York, manufacturing rings and earrings by the thousands for other designers. When I was ready, I went independent and began designing and creating jewelry in my own studio.
In 2010, I needed help raising capital but had trouble obtaining a traditional bank loan. I found Accion, applied through their website and was quickly approved for a $5,000 loan.
Accion’s financial advisors also worked with me on business principles and helped me formulate a plan for business growth.
Now my work has a national following. I travel around the country for jewelry and design shows and my work is displayed in galleries in multiple states.
