Accion Serving Illinois and Northwest Indiana is seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Manager of Marketing and Communications located in Chicago, IL.

Job Description:

The Manager of Marketing and Communications is a salaried, exempt position that reports to the CEO. The Manager is responsible for supporting the annual goals of the organization by generating awareness of our services in the communities we seek to serve and positioning the organization for sustainable growth. The Manager executes the strategy for the organization in partnership with the CEO and staff and nurtures trusted relationships internally and externally.

Essential Duties:

Measurable Goals
  • Fulfill all operational obligations on time each month
  • Spend no more than budgeted for operations each month for development accounts
  • Contribute to a net surplus each year
Primary Responsibilities
  • Nurture trusted relationships with:
    • Media that will help us communicate the work that we do to additional entrepreneurs, partners, and donors
    • Entrepreneurs to whom we provide funding and coaching
    • Community leaders who help identify entrepreneurs who are ready to grow
    • Financial institutions, foundations, individuals, public entities, and other types of donors who invest in our work
  • Generate free media through placed stories, social media posts, and other creative means
  • Articulate and deliver clear stories for who we serve, the value we provide, and how we deliver that value effectively in partnership with the Director of Development
  • Plan and execute all Accion-hosted events, including community and coaching events as well as the annual Taste of Accion alongside the Development team
  • Coordinate all external communications across all mediums
  • Standardize the client experience through Accion’s Marketing Strategy, refreshing it each year in conjunction with organizational goals and priorities
  • Perform other duties flexibly and creatively as needs arise
Additional Responsibilities
  • Develop external marketing materials and creative collateral in partnership with the Director of Development and consistent with the Accion brand
  • Manage website and other general communications in collaboration with Accion U.S. Network
  • Ensure that the organization is positioned to handle publicity under challenging situations
  • Provide backup when development staff is unavailable

  • Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)

  • Event Planning
