Events and Development Specialist Position:

The Events and Development Specialist is a salaried, exempt position that reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. The Events and Development Specialist is responsible for supporting the planning and execution of all Accion events. This includes fundraising events, coaching and lending events, and support as a liaison to external planners hosting events at The Hatchery. In addition, this position supports the general fundraising and development activities for the organization by researching grant opportunities, processing donations, executing grant reporting requirements, and ensuring accurate record-keeping for audits.

Essential Duties:

  • Work with team members to plan and execute successful Accion-led events including Accion’s annual fundraiser, the Taste of Accion, lending focused events such as Accion in Your Neighborhood, and coaching workshops
  • Work with team members to establish event processes, track event metrics and manage event reporting
  • Work with external event planners to ensure successful event experiences at The Hatchery
  • Support the organization’s general fundraising by finding potential new sources of support and maintaining accurate and timely records
  • Contribute to the budgeting process annually and carefully remain within budget for the year
  • Contribute to a net surplus each year

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and successful execution of Accion-led events, coordinating logistics with appropriate team members, clients, and partners, and ensuring best in class hospitality and expected outcomes
  • Track event matrix and assist with relationship data management
  • Serve as the on-site point person for community events at The Hatchery by assisting with run of show and all logistics, including room set-up, technology, catering, room clean-up and more
  • Research potential new funders and partners
  • Process all donations, including data entry and correspondence
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date fundraising records, including contract management and reporting requirements

The Events and Development Specialist should have experience in:

  • Planning and executing events, preferably at a nonprofit organization
  • Working with events vendors
  • Grant-writing or relevant work with funders
  • Using Customer Relationship Management software (a plus, but not necessary)


In addition, the Events and Development Specialist:

  • Must frequently move objects up to 25 pounds and occasionally move objects up to 50 pounds including office furniture, AV equipment and catering supplies
  • Occasionally must be available to staff evening and weekend events
