I lost my job at a major pharmaceutical company and decided my next career move would be to work for myself. I decided to build a business modeled after Storage Wars. My partner Nancy said, “Sure, let’s try!” and Then-n-Again was born.
We found a storefront in our neighborhood but needed money to get the space ready. Accion was willing to give us a $5,000 loan to repair, paint, carpet and move in. I buy our merchandise sight-unseen at the liquidation sales of local storage places. It’s always exciting to come back with a full truck.
We’ve found expensive and costume jewelry, everyday dishes and fine china, furniture, and lots of name brand clothes, accessories, and collectibles. Each box is like a present—I have no idea what I’ll find inside. We love having a small family business in our own community and having the kids helping out after school.
