Accion is proud to have a longstanding partnership with the Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream program, which offers small food and beverage businesses access to capital, coaching and networks to help them succeed.
Opening a food or beverage business is a risky endeavor. According to the National Restaurant Association, for example, 30% of restaurants close during their first year and another 30% close within two years after opening. As a result, many banks are simply not willing to lend to many businesses in this sector. That’s where Accion steps in, filling a critical need for financing, providing several hundred loans to food and beverage businesses across the country each year.
Since 2008, as Accion’s national food and beverage sponsor, Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream has supported Accion in providing nearly 1,300 loans totaling $16.5 million to food and beverage businesses across the country that are creating or retaining approximately 5,200 jobs.
This program is open to all Accion food and beverage clients. Interested in applying for a loan? Visit http://us.accion.org/how-to-apply to learn more.

What clients have said about their Brewing the American Dream experience:
“I’m featured on the BTAD website and have collaborated with Sam Adams on several promotions for consumers. It is gratifying to have the respect of a successful craft brewery. That’s an amazing step forward to an entrepreneur like me!” – Alberto Boleres of 606 Coffee Roasters in Chicago
“The mentoring has been so valuable; in a lot of ways more so than the money because I’m only one person. I know how to make a Facebook post, but now I know how to see if it was effective. I know a lot about accounting, but I’ve never been responsible for a profit and loss statement before. So just getting an idea where to start puts me in a better place.” – Heather Yunger of Top Shelf Cookies in Boston
